Secure text relay for AI-era work · Desktop · Browser · VS Code · CLI

Highlight. Hotkey. Redact. Relay — in milliseconds.

Your clipboard wasn't built for the AI era. SafeRelay was. Highlight text in any app, trigger one hotkey, and it teleports into ChatGPT, your editor, a ticket, or a terminal — without the copy-paste grind. Speed comes first; safety is built in: SafeRelay's local DLP strips API keys, tokens, .env values, IPs, and secrets in-flight, on your machine, before anything arrives.

Local-first · redaction, OCR & relay run on-device · nothing leaves your machine · free on Windows
How it works

Highlight. Hotkey. It arrives clean.

Arm a target app once. Then highlight text anywhere, press one hotkey, and it teleports in — with API keys, tokens, PII, and IPs stripped out in-flight and kept in a local vault. No Alt-Tab. No copy-paste dance. Nothing leaves your machine.

Beyond the hotkey — the control layer

Scan a whole file. Redact your own terms. Restore when you're done.

File scan → AI-ready

Point SafeRelay at a config, log, or document and it redacts every sensitive value into a safe copy you can hand to any AI — no manual scrubbing.

Your own Protected Terms

Add codenames, project names, internal IDs, or regex patterns. SafeRelay redacts them everywhere, in every flow — changes take effect instantly.

The local vault

Every redacted value stays recoverable on your machine, shown as [PLACEHOLDER] → ****last4. Restore the originals anytime. Clear it in one click.

All local — nothing leaves your machine. Free: scan up to 1 MB, 3 custom terms. Pro: up to 10 MB, unlimited terms.

On the roadmap: Voice Mode (speak → redact → inject) · DataDNA (team policy layer) · ServiceNow workflow integration
Why I built it

I built SafeRelay because I scared myself.

I was moving fast — pasting terminal output, stack traces, config snippets, and pieces of .env files into AI tools just to debug faster. The productivity rush is real. But so is the risk: one tired Ctrl+V away from leaking a secret, token, internal IP, or production credential.

As a Linux Systems Engineer, security is always in the back of my mind — and I still caught myself doing it. We're treating public AI tools like secure local workspaces. They're not.

So I built SafeRelay: a secure text relay for AI-era work. Highlight text anywhere, hit one hotkey, and it lands wherever you're working — one app or several at once — in milliseconds. On the way, a local engine catches the secrets, PII, and internal details you didn't mean to send, with the accuracy of purpose-built patterns rather than guesswork. And it does more than text: capture a region of your screen and it OCRs and redacts that too, all on your machine.

Fast enough to stay in your flow. Safe because nothing leaves your device. Accurate because it's built to catch what actually matters. You keep the context — the AI only ever sees the safe version.
